I'm always on the lookout for developers that will enhance the qualities I love about my favorite low speed films. The other day I read a review of a developer I'd never heard of before,Tetenal Blau, on Alex Luyckx's incredibly helpful blog, the photos looked great and as one of the films he was testing, RPX-25 happened to be one of my all time favorite films, my interest was really piqued.
It seemeed like a bit of an exotic developer and I assumed it wouldn't be available in the states, but a quick search of the interwebs revealed that Freestyle Photo, one of my favorite retailers, had it in stock at what seemed a fair price. How could I resist?
Tetanal Blau comes in 6 packs of little 50ml bottles, so it's very easy to mix up and supposedly can last for years in the bottle. The one big caveat for me is that it is a one shot developer, which I usually prefer to avoid.
These photos were shot at box speed and developed in 1:9 solution for 5 minutes. I think it's quite a nice developer and I'm looking forward to using it again soon. There is a little damage to some of these shots, I think it's from my continuing ineptitude with my developing tank.
